“Blessed are the clean of heart, for they will see God.” The world today seems to be pretty much the opposite of how God made it. “Every thing that he had made, behold, was very good”. That was how the Bible first described the Earth. But now, materialism, selfishness, and tainted intentions envelope the world.
As humans, we may have considered pursuing our own dreams in life. But as stewards of God’s creation and as His own children, we must remember that our real vocation is to maintain a world free of the said materialism, selfishness, and tainted intentions. And I believe that we can all be saints in our own little ways, and if we all do well in this vocation, the Earth will restore its original characteristics; that everything was good.
In my 17 years of existence in this world, I can say that I have experience a lot already. But as an imperfect person, I do not always experience good things. Problems come and go, but by considering the 8 Beatitudes, I think that I will be able to resolve my problems. But let me cite some good experiences that are very much related to my chosen Beatitude, “Blessed are the clean of heart, for they will see God.” Joining outreaches has become one of my favorite activities in school. I join these outreaches not because I want to get something material in return, but because I want to gain emotional satisfaction. This kind of activity has always made me happy, because I know that I make other people happy too. And I think outreach experiences do not only cover one, but all 8 Beatitudes.
The world today is evidently not peaceful. With all the wars and terrorisms, it is ALMOST impossible to achieve genuine peace. Because of this, I consider “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God” as the most difficult to appreciate. However, there should always be hope. There are still 7 other Beatitudes, and these 7 others can help realize the last one.
If given that these 8 Beatitudes are taken whole-heartedly into consideration by all of us, the world will seem to be peaceful, selfless, and less-materialistic: a very blissful and beautiful place to live in.
