 Gospel Reading-- November 14, 2010

The passage last Sunday conveys countless means of obliteration and annihilation. Such massive destructions don’t serve as threats, yet as warning for the coming of the Son of God. Jesus didn’t leave His disciples terrified, for He gave an assurance of safety through His words: “Do not be terrified... I myself shall give you a wisdom in speaking that all your adversaries will be powerless to resist or refute.” He affirmed even when the time of persecution comes, He shall empower them with His mantle of protection.
Has there ever been a person who has walked this planet without any mishaps or problems? As we always utter, we are not perfect. And so do our lives. Life is not meant to travel the way we wished it would be. Everyday we battle to fit and survive.  God gives all the tribulations and trials that we are experiencing for a reason we have yet to come to know. But for now, these challenges shall serve as a stepping-stone and learning brick for all of us. They are not made to wash our away our faith in God. In fact, through these trying times is where our faith should grow and nourish.
The gospel enumerated ways of destruction, yet instead of dwelling on how to survive these trials in the future, we should draw our focus more on the present. Let’s work our way according in the present, which will certainly pave way for a brighter future. But as of now, one concrete example is by praying. Through praying we may get signs from God. These signs may not be the complete our answer to our petition, nevertheless, we should never lose hope. Praying is not just a mode of supplication, but also a way to build a stronger relationship with God. We should not veer away from God because of these devastations. In summary, God is the way, the truth and the life; all we have to do is believe, for we are fearless.
