Beatitudes

by: Bryan Reyes Sr-C  gospel reflection
The gospel this Sunday talks about the 8 beatitudes. These beatitudes help me understand more about how God repays those who are downtrodden and humble. The beatitude the struck me the most is: “Blessed are they who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be satisfied.” This beatitude struck me because it strengthens me in times of doubts. It helps me realize that God never leaves a prayer unanswered. I should always believe in Him and never lose faith even though things are not going smoothly for me. And during times that I know that I’m doing that right thing, although I’m being punished for it, it doesn’t matter because I know that God is pleased. This is why this beatitude helps me become more honest.
Those who hunger and thirst for righteousness are those people who desire to be more like God. Incorporating my life with this beatitude will help me mold myself to be more like Him, more merciful, more loving and so on. And as a student, aspiring to become better, especially in terms of values, will definitely help me in my future. And in the long run, as I deal with the dilemmas in life, I would possess the values the will help me make better decisions. Finally, having the nature of a person who fears God, my actions would be well thought and will help me become a saint some day.
Life has given me a lot of obstacles that have helped me become the person I am today. Problems that have pushed me to the limits and have made me do things I never thought I could do. But despite all these dilemmas, the main thing that has helped me through it all is God’s guidance.  Through these eight beatitudes, it helps me have that assurance that if we persevere, if we do what’s right, and if we do what’s best for everyone, even though you’re down and almost out, God will make sure that we get what we deserve.
The beatitude which I think is hard to realize is: “Blessed are they who are persecuted for the sake of righteousness, for theirs is the Kingdom of heaven.” because nowadays people are afraid to do what’s right since they are afraid of being judged, or getting in deeper trouble.
The eight beatitudes serve as a guide in life wherein God shows us what He has in store for those who deserve it. I believe that if everyone thoroughly follows the beatitudes, no doubt, we would live in a peaceful society where everyone cares for their neighbor. Peace on earth would be attained, no evil coincides.
