Discipline plays a significant role in the formation of one’s character. But does it take an iron fist in order to discipline a child? Sometimes it is difficult to make a child obedient.
Raising a child with an iron fist will not do any better. When a parent or a blood relative use violent ways in disciplining children, there might be a negative effect on the child. The child’s behavior would definitely change. He or she would have a bad relationship with his or her parent that uses an iron fist in disciplining. A child might keep a grudge over his or her parent. That grudge will be brought by the child until he or she grows up. Therefore, the child may not be open with his or her parents once this type of method is used in disciplining. A child could consequently be traumatized.
There are other alternatives in disciplining a child that could work effectively. Instead of employing an iron fist, a parent could provide a certain just consequence for every act that is adverse.
Parents cannot avoid that their children could do an undesirable act. That is why it is best that parents guide their children in every way. Parents should be the role model to their children because shaping one’s character starts with the people surrounding him or her.
