"Blessed are the pure of heart for they shall see God" was the beatitude that struck me the most.
Nowadays, people are too preoccupied with the world, technology and their day to day activities that they barely talk to God anymore. And many too, have been distracted by the temptations of mankind. Being "pure of heart" is a very big task to fulfill. It requires being less of a sinner, and more of a role model. It requires strong faith towards the Lord, and weak attachments to the worldly possessions. I for one have found myself being tempted to be doing other things instead of praying or going to mass. I do things that distract me from Him. And I know that this is wrong.
But the Lord gives second chances. He forgives and forgets. The Saints in heaven now used to be sinners too. They just knew how to act pure of heart, and therefore they saw God. They were not perfect persons. And like us, we too, all have a chance in become a saint. Being pure of heart would guide me to become one because I know that acting more Christlike will make me realize that there is the kingdom that awaits for us. It is heaven where everything is good. It is heaven where forever will be spent with the Lord.
I believe I hold on to the strong faith I have with the Lord. Although, there are times where I get distracted and do foolish things, I still know that God forgives me and He just wants me to learn from my mistakes to be a better Christian. Right now, Ive been facing some problems with my friends. But through it, I try my best to think first before I act. I try to ask the Lord to help me so that I will resolve these problems. I know that some things are just trials the Lord gives us, so He can test us if we still hold on to Him during tough times.
Sometimes, by simply holding on to the Lord, things will fall into place. You dont have to move mountains to make miracles. The Lord himself will move mountains for you.
These 8 beatitudes are, in all honesty, hard to do. I am a teenager and we are in a stage where making mistakes is a way to learn and grow. But through the process, I still try my best to offer everything to the Lord, through great acts, love and prayer.
