One of the main purposes of high school, apart from holistic student formation, is to prepare students for college. Anything that gets in the way of such purpose is an obstruction. Most parents believe that being romantically involved is something that should be, at all costs, prevented or avoided. I, however, believe that there is nothing wrong with having a romantic relationship as long as it does not get in the way of one’s studies and academic involvements. Such relationship must never be a student’s priority. Instead, he or she must then find some sort of inspiration to even better himself/herself when it comes to school. If the relationship ends up pushing the student to do better, then I am all for it. Some good things may come out of it as well. We are taught to manage school and relationships. We are exposed to early relationships so that we can learn from them and avoid the hurtful mistakes in the future. It’s a learning and fulfilling experience. On contrary, if such relationship ends up influencing the student toa turn from virtue to vice or deems to be unhealthy and damaging both academically and emotionally, then at all costs, I am against it.
