The Best Things in Life are Free

by: LJ Sarao
“Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth.” I believe that this beatitude shows us that whatever that we do in this world may not be given of much value, because in the end, the Almighty Father will be the one who will truly reward us with his greatness. We may be good in our life, but that doesn’t always guarantee us that other people will be good towards us. Just like the saying “Your right hand shouldn’t know what your left hand is doing.” This beatitude tells us that we shouldn’t boast about being merciful. Because in God’s eyes, we are already doing something great and we it is not necessary for others to know that.
How does one become a saint? From what I know, you don’t expect to become a saint. That title is only given to those who deserve to be called saints. Saints do extraordinary acts of goodness, where in which they become recognized. The Saints we have now didn’t demands for them to become saints. In relation to the beatitude, our Saints now were made saints because they were humble enough to keep their acts of kindness to themselves. Wouldn’t it just feel amazing when the people you help are the ones who spread to others about your generous acts?
I have lived most of my life as a Christian and most of the things that I have done can be related to the 8 beatitudes.  I show mercy towards people who ask for my forgiveness. I forgive them just like that, with no strings attached. I am humble when it comes to charity work. I do not ask for any credit of any kind. The beatitudes are simply the acts that we should follow, and it also shows the corresponding reward that God is willing to give you.
For me, being a person with a clean heart is really hard to do. Even if we try really hard, temptations will always be there, and there will always be times where our faith will weaken and eventually fall in to temptation. This is why I find it hard to keep a clean heart, but I will always find a way to lessen the impurities that go into my heart.
If these beatitudes are practiced all the time, and with discipline, I believe that this world that we live in will live in peace and harmony. People will be properly guided, and everyone will be good in the eyes of God.
