Blessed are those who mourn

by: Camille Diomampo Sr.D
“Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted,” what does this really tell us? Truly all of us have mourned at least once in our lives.  Pain is an inevitable aspect of our lives. In times like these, we seek for comfort. God does not abandon his children.  He willingly comforts us in our times of doubt.  Yet, sometimes, it is us who doesn’t let him in and comfort us.
I believe that the only way we can truly live out our calling is by completely letting God take us over. Pride takes us further away from God, and it draws us closer to sin. It is pride which distracts us from our means to sanctity.
Personally, I’ve had my own share of nights crying myself to sleep. In those times, I won’t deny that I’ve learned to grow angry with God. However, in the end, I realized that the comfort and answers I was looking for were with Him.
I also believe that the beatitude, “Blessed are the clean of heart, for they shall see God,” is the most difficult to follow. All of us had sinned one way or another, and it is in our human nature. However, it is not impossible that we may see God, it only takes us much more effort to do so.
