Golden heart

Zian Serranilla  Senior D

In our world today, it is seldom to find people with a golden heart. People have the natural tendency to be the worse that they can be. Being worse in terms of being pretentious so to claim power or whatsoever. That is why I chose the beatitude: “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall see God.” Most people are fond of agitating a situation. One example is crab mentality.  Why not just help uplift each other? Other examples are wars and insurgencies. Our life is too short to spend time making war if we can make up for the faults committed that triggered the fight. It takes time to compromise, though not impossible.
Being a saint doesn’t only pertain to those extraordinary people who died a painful death for a good cause. Rather, saints also relate to people who do extraordinary things for his or her fellowmen for the betterment of others. The beatitude I have chosen speaks clearly in relation to me becoming a saint. Peace is the gateway for the community to unite. It plays a pivotal role in marinating order and harmony in our world. Thus, I should help keep peace and order in my own little ways, which in return, can help build firmer relationships amongst people.
I have a strong in faith in God, yet I think I lack on living a truly Christian life. My spiritual life is not perfect; there are things and relationships, which are under rough patch. However, these things help me go through each day thinking that God is ever present to help lift my burden. The 8 beatitudes also aid me in living each day as a soldier of Christ defending and spreading the good news. They inspire be to become a better person and to realize that every hardship and failure has a corresponding reward, but not that I am after the reward, rather these rewards ignite the spark of goodness in me.
I think that the hardest beatitude to realize or fully internalize is this: “Blessed are they who are persecuted for the sake of righteousness, for theirs is the Kingdom of heaven.” There are countless people who suffered and who are suffering for righteousness sake yet justice is not fully achieved. Their families still grieve each day in the hope of at least knowing the truth behind the persecution of their family member. Injustice is prevalent in these cases. If these persecuted people stood up for what is right, then what is the humane acceptable reason having them killed? That just shows these cruel persecutors show no heart.
If only people religiously take account these 8 beatitudes in their lives, then the world would be a better place. We will realize that living in this world can be simpler and happier having these 8 beatitudes teach us the purpose of our lives. We will come to internalize that God will always be there even through the darkest of times. We will be able to develop and grow morally and spiritually in the love of God. The world would be glowing with love and hope that will surely easily spread the Word of God. It will be of great impact having these 8 beatitudes taken conscientiously through which comes from a pure golden heart.
