Mama Mary’s Exceptional Love

by: Micah Angela P. Dizon   SR-C

Mama Mary can be a lot of things to other people: a mother, friend, guardian, confidante, etc. For me, she has been all of these things. No matter what situation I am going through in my life, I know that she is always there. Every time I feel discouraged and weary, during times when I feel distant toward God and when I feel doubtful of all the problems coming my way, I turn to Mary the way one would turn to a friend. The fact that she understands me when I convey all my problems to her is comforting. She is like a refuge from all the confusion. I just talk and listen to her, and I know that she will lead me to the right path which will bring me to God. She has also been one of my role models. Her exceptional obedience to follow the Lord’s will is something us Christians should imitate. Her humility, simplicity and pure-heartedness are traits I would like to possess. Despite all the problems and dangers that went her way, she remained steadfast in her love and faith in Jesus Christ. She has also been my intercessor. No matter how grave a sin I have committed, the knowledge that she is intercedes for me lifts a great weight off my shoulders. She is also my co-redeemer. Without her, our salvation would not have happened. She has made a lot of sacrifices a mother would make for her children.
I love Mama Mary. I may not see her or talk directly to her. However, her presence is enough to assure me of her love. She has been one of the reasons I have made it through all the hardships. There may have been a time when I felt far away from her and God. But now, I know that with them, I feel safer than I have ever felt
