Sunday Gospel Reflection of Joanna Parroco Sr-E

Sunday Gospel Reflection

Joanna Parroco Sr-E

The Gospel about Lazarus and the rich man can be related to the current situation of our society. The persona of the rich man is like the persona of corrupt politicians and greedy businessmen, they do not care about others but only themselves. They want to become richer each day without thinking of their unfortunate brothers and sisters. All they care about is the material things in life. On the other hand, Lazarus symbolizes the underprivileged; they have nothing to eat or drink everyday but they have faith in God. There are so many lessons I gathered upon reading this parable. One of the lessons is the virtue of humility; Nowadays, we are strongly influenced by the mass media and our peers which result to negative traits like being materialistic, selfish and conceited. In order to overcome these we should make the best of everything we have, be contented with it and keep our life simple like the life Jesus lived. When one dies, the material things are left on earth and it does not compare to the joy and eternal happiness that one can experience in the Kingdom of God.
