Gospel Reflection on Faith

By: Nicole Salamanca
Gospel Reflection #3

In life, we have to push ourselves more. That is what the gospel is all about, doing something beyond what people expect of you. The gospel is all about increasing your faith. It’s all about being independent and doing something beyond what you’re asked of and what is expected of you. It started with the disciples asking Jesus to increase their faith. He replied to them about a master who has a servant who does everything he says but does not go beyond what is asked of the servant.

After reading the gospel the first time, I still didn’t get it. But after re-reading it, I realized what the story is all about. I realized it when I realized that I was doing the exact same thing the servant was doing. I’m doing this reflection because it was expected of me. I’m doing work because it is asked of me. I’m doing things because people want me to do them. People do things to please other people, not because they want to go beyond what is normal, but because they were asked to do it. It’s not how life is. Life is about taking chances, taking a leap of faith. Like those people in the video about living, those who failed in something but pursued it even though the people around them expected them to quit. By doing what is not asked and by having faith in God’s divine power, people can conquer anything they want. They can conquer their doubts and even their fears.

I now want everyone to take action with me. I want everyone out there to take a risk, take a chance, and take a leap of faith. We’re born to do great things. We we’re expected to go beyond the expectations. So right now, I’m not just doing my reflection because sir Cloyd asked me to. I’m doing it because I want people to know that they’re capable of doing something far greater than what is originally planned for them. We must learn to accept our faith, our greatness before we can achieve greatness.
