Gospel Reflection on Faith

Gospel Reflection

(Lk.17:5-10)
In this gospel, the apostles asked Jesus to increase their faith. Jesus’ reply was a comparison to a mustard seed. Should their faith be as the size of a mustard seed, they have the power to command, as if they could tell mulberry trees to uproot themselves, and they will obey. This implies that if we’re not strong enough, then there will come a time that we’ll be able to be as good as anyone else in this world, if we seek for a stronger faith.

Our faith is dependent on whom we ask ourselves to become who we really want to be, and that we look for the strength to be so. If we don’t have this faith, then there’s nowhere we could go, unless we search for it, and ask the Lord’s guidance to actually find it. Upon watching the videos on faith, such as the one with the little failures we commit, I have learned that great people are not born great. They definitely have met bumps along the way; these bumps were just little setbacks, and that these great people learn from these.

As a student, I have these little setbacks, and sometimes I feel like I don’t have the strength to overcome them. This gospel has taught me to face these little challenges with more conviction, and that I learn from the mistakes I commit. It’s definitely not so hard to persevere and believe, and that is why I commit myself to increasing my faith.
In conclusion, no matter how little our faith is, we will find a way to overcome our indifferences. It’s just a matter of believing in ourselves and persevering on what we really want to happen.
