Regalado Jose Sr-A
A lot has happened ever since the government has introduced the Reproductive Health Bill, and a lot of “punches” have been thrown by the Church to the government and vice versa. This Bill has been making headlines ever since, and a lot of voices have been heard. As a concerned Filipino Citizen, I would also like to voice out my opinion.
The Church is against this Bill because they say that it promotes sex, and immorality. It may also lead to abortion which is their worst fear. On the other hand, the Government is for this because they believe that it could lessen the poverty of our country. The government believes that our population is directly proportional to our economy, and that the main cause of our poverty is that we are an over populated nation.
But what I say is, “Can’t we just agree to disagree?” And, “Can’t we work things out?” I believe that we should just get opinions from both sides to form a solution to our poverty. The government should agree with some of the demands of the church, and the church should do the same. Maybe instead of arguing about family planning and contraceptives, they should propose a plan that promotes responsible parenting. This could be achieved through education, and this I believe. The solution to our problem isn’t that clear right now, but I’m sure that this will be found really soon.
