JESUS: “Talk To Me, I Know What’s Best For You”

Excellent Work of Arvi Dacuba

Will not God then secure the rights of his chosen ones who call out to him day and night? Will he be slow to answer them?” Indeed, this line struck me the most for it implies the value and importance of prayer, the best and only way of communication of God and man. However, there is more to this line that one can notice by simply reading between the lines. This line also stresses that prayer must be done all the time, and consistently. We do not pray to God only when we need things. We pray to God as constant communication with Him, the same way on how we simply talk to our friends and families daily. Even simple “thank you’s” to God for each blessing He has showered upon us is already enough. Moreover, the line also tells us that not every prayer we ask from God is answered the way we want it to be BUT that doesn’t mean God doesn’t hear our prayers. It simply means that He has better things planned for us; only God knows the ultimate best for all of us. We all must realize that.
In relation to the DLSU Entrance exam and this gospel, I believe that whatever college God plans me to go, it is for the best. Since this gospel talks about PRAYER, I can relate this to my prayer to God to give me a sign on which college must I go to in order for me to have the proper guidance for me to achieve my goals in life. I honestly am torn between Ateneo and DLSU. I would like to go to Ateneo since it provides most of the opportunities that I am in search for plus Ateneo provides a new ambiance, most especially new people; however, the school’s location is quite far from my residence that’s why it is a challenge. In DLSU, I know it’s just a three-year course which would save time, but my constant “personal fear” is still nagging me which makes me want to avoid DLSU yet  my parents want me in there. Caught up between two schools, applying the gospel’s message on praying and seriously communicating and listening to God is a good way to exemplify this gospel. Like the line as mentioned above said, God will answer our prayers either a yes, a no or wait…but whatever answer God gives us, it is all for our best.
In conclusion, the gospel summons us to put prayer our priority and mustn’t be omitted no matter how busy or tired we all are. Prayer is the number one aspect that connects God and man. Through prayer, we do not only communicate with God by thanksgiving, praising, supplication and contrition but also learn to LISTEN to what God wants from us. Prayer is also a mode of contemplation, to listen to our hearts, our conscience to fully understand who we are and our purpose in life. In addition, the gospel encourages and reminds us not to be daunted if ever we ask God for something and He doesn’t get if for us right away. God has better plans for us and He only wants the BEST for us. No one knows the best thing in us but God Himself. So PRAY, TRUST AND LISTEN TO THE LORD.
