“Open your mind”
In line with a new President here comes endless controversies. One of which is the Reproductive Health Bill.
The Catholic Church and the government are having a huge so called “fight” because of this bill. I believe what the Catholic Church fail to see is that our President is just looking for ways for our country to improve economically. They are already closing their minds to it. I used to think that the RH bill promotes abortion but it doesn’t. It promotes family planning and making the people choose. I’m an advocate of giving people choices because it is in the choices we make we see who we truly are.
This bill has been the center of newspapers and TV shows. It saddens me that the Catholic Church is willing to excommunicate our President because of this. Shouldn’t the Catholic Church and the Government work hand in hand for our country’s improvement and not fight? I believe the Church has taken this whole thing out of proportion. They should be ready to talk it out with the government. Excommunicating the President will not help but it will only make the situation worse.
The Catholic Church shouldn’t see this as the government is promoting sex but they should see it from another point of view. This bill will enlighten our fellow Filipinos and give them a choice. Even if I am for this bill it doesn’t mean that I promote and support immoral acts. God gave us free will and the church must accept that. Our faith will be tested and all Catholics must be ready for it. It is in times like these that we should overcome temptation. The government only wants what will help our country. The mere fact that they are even fighting over this bill is that the government would like to encourage a united solution to a problem. The Catholic Church must work with the government and not be a hindrance. After all they can teach us Catholics that even though the bill is there that doesn’t change the fact that Catholics shouldn’t do such immoral acts. It is then that we will say we truly have great faith in God.
