The Gospel starts with the apostles asking the Lord to increase their faith, and the Lord replied that if we have faith that is like the size of a mustard seed the mulberry tree would obey him. The Lord also continues in how the servant is only doing his duty to his master.
The Gospel is telling us to have faith in the Lord without any doubt that the Lord will give us whatever we ask of him for as long as we faith on him. This also tells about servant hood because it reminds us that we can’t make claim on God’s graciousness; in fulfilling the exacting demands of discipleship, we are only doing our duty.
The Gospel tells us to do what the Lord tells us to do, for it is our duty to the Lord. It also tells us that it is not enough how we show our faith to the Lord. In order to show our faith, we must be able to give up ourselves to the Lord, and do what is more than ask of us.
In my conclusion, it is not only by faith that we will be saved but it also through our deeds by doing good to others because for just as a body without a spirit is dead, so also faith without works is dead.
