Mama Mary (that’s how I call the Blessed Virgin Mary) is a woman I have always looked up to. I can say that Mama Mary and I are pretty close, for I always pray to her, and I am able to tell her things casually. To me, she is a mother, friend, sister, teacher and role model. As a mother, she constantly takes care of me and keeps me safe in this dangerous world. As a friend, she always listens to anything and everything I tell her. As a sister, she always helps me go through all challenges and hardships in living. As a teacher, she constantly educates me about life and gives me advice. As a role model, she continues to inspire me to do well and be better.
However, there are two things about her that make me love her so much and inspire me into becoming just like her. First, she is forgiving. We are all aware of Jesus life, but how about Mary’s? Did you know that she was discriminated by others because of God’s plan of her being conceived by the Holy Spirit? Also, we are all aware of Jesus’ hardships, from people’s disbelief until his Crucifixion. On the other hand, were we aware of how Mary felt about the way people treated her son? Imagine, if there is nothing worse to a mother than seeing her children suffer, how did Mary feel when she witnessed Jesus death caused by people? Now, with all these in mind, think about what Mary did. Did she fight back? Did she curse those people? No, she forgave and she accepted. Second, she is simple. Mary did not live an extravagant life. She was not rich or proud. Even when he already had Jesus, the Son of God, Mary remained humble. Seeing how she lived a simple life and remained happy and understanding, Mama Mary continues to amaze and motivates me into becoming a better Christian.
It is because of these things that I am able to trust, believe, and love her so much.
