Fly High To Serve Excellent Project by: Ica Velarde

It's almost every walking being's dream to be able to fly and touch the skies. For me, it is going to be a reality.

Ever since I was a child, I've always loved travelling. My parents took me wherever they would go and I never got tired of walking around with them. Maybe that is one of the factors that contributed to my interest in travelling. I believe that travelling enriches our minds with the things that we won't learn by the book, things that words from textbooks can't feed our minds. I believe that there is a lot to discover out there and for me, travelling is the best way to do so.

Another passion of mine is service. I love serving other people! I don't know why but I just love the feeling of seeing someone else smile for the little things I do for him/her. I discovered this passion by joining the three organizations in Zobel namely: La Sallian Youth Corps, Youth For Christ and Search-In. These three organizations opened my heart to things beyond what my eyes can see, these made me feel what is out there.

Putting these two aspects together (travelling and service) I realized that the best way I can live my life sharing the two things i love doing to other people is by being a Flight Attendant. The things that made me happy the most in my past, today, and will surely make me feel happy in the future is the feeling of fulfillment I get when I help someone out even with the simplest of things. And I guess that the best thing about the help I offer is the passion and the willingness that comes with the concrete application.

Aside from my personal aspirations, the support of my parents really drives me even more to get hold of my dreams. I can't see myself in any other way years from now but as a flight attendant. I guess I should feel lucky that as early as now, I have found what I want to become.

We all have respective vocations and I think that it's very important for us to follow our dreams no matter what other people say. We are the only ones who can navigate the course of our life and one wrong decision of others may influence our paths greatly, this is why we should take control because at the end of the day, it is our life, our future, our vocation.
