“ O N E I R O S ”
Markus Zusak once wrote, ”maybe everyone can live beyond what they’re capable of”. Capability is something that a person can imagine himself doing and being able to execute it well. To me, imagination is something that agitates you to further think of something no one has ever thought of yet. Everyone has the capability to create, it’s is just the few who know how to marry them harmoniously and end up with creativity. Those are the few I look up to.
Ever since I was young, I’ve always dreamt of being in advertising and marketing. It’s something I’ve grew up around, and to tell you the truth, it’d always intrigued me. The people had to think of new unique ways of promoting their brand; from one idea to the next. I watched my Mum go in meetings, and I’d listen to the people selling their concepts to one another. Excited as I was (and am still until now), I’ve always dreamt of being one of the creative minds who made commercials that would trigger people’s fancy. Imagine being able to be part of a team that made an advertisement for Coca-Cola, wouldn’t it be grand! Random people on the streets would be singing the jingle, they’d be copying the actions, mentioning the tag lines...you’d think, “hey! I helped make that!”.
Nowadays, I ready myself for that profession by practicing my creative juices. In high school, it isn’t that hard to exercise my mind in imagining. Conceptualizing would be my specialty, but then again I’d have to do the dirty work sometimes. My Dad always told me to not specialize in a certain thing because you’d get stuck in that era and not know what’s happening in the world around me. Jack of all trades, master of none – he calls it. Come to think of it, school has been training me to being what I want to be. It’s media that affects advertising and marketing the most. I’ve been involved in many things that have to do with that.
To wrap up what I’ve been saying, I’d like to work the creative side of business. I will, one day, be a part of the team behind the catchy jingles for your new favourite sodas! It’s my passion to create, and in this field... I will create not only because it is my passion. It’s like hitting two birds with one stone: I get paid for doing something I love. My family always told me that if I love what I do, they pay wouldn’t even matter. It’s a good thing advertisers get paid a lot, though!
