Beyond Separation
The growing issue in our society today: The Republic Health Bill. The RH bill has been causing a whirlwind of issues between the government and the Church. As a Christian, I do agree with the disregard of contraceptives, though critically in our present day situation, the country’s poverty rate has amassed to greater heights. Do not get me wrong, my principles as a Christian has not wavered. I simply believe that the use of contraceptives and the like must stay in the relationships of married couples to enable the prevention of unplanned pregnancy--to lessen the growing population of this country. Realistically speaking, not everyone has the prior knowledge in planning a truly Christian family. As to non-married couples, or individuals who are in line with the thought, I believe that the proper teaching of what the effects of these proceedings must be taken into action to let aware of what they are entering in.
I am a true-hearted Christian, but a loyal citizen to this country as well. In my years of learning, I have come to the conclusion of the thought of not merging politics and religion, for the two bodies bring such contrasting ideas. Thus, brings me to my realization on the Church’s involvement to the matter—I do not agree. It can be likened with the government applying itself to the Church—it cannot be done It has insufficient knowledge to the subject matter; hence, the church must not interfere as well. These two play different roles in the society and it should not merge. I believe that the Church must let go of its domineering acts on the government for it isn’t the Church’s job. Though I do not oppose to its influence to the people, but such threats should not be made to the president (such as: its warning to excommunicate President Noynoy Aquino) to get what they seek. A reminder: the church and the government are explicitly separated as stated in the constitution, so it should not meddle with such events, but merely influence.
