The gospel this week reminds us about showing appreciation, both to God and even to the little things people do for us. In the gospel, Jesus asked if, after workers had just finished a lot of work, they would immediately tell them to site and dine with them, instead of asking them to prepare a meal for him. Jesus is reminding us that we should respect them, and be thankful for what they do.
The way we are raised and faith have a very big impact on one’s life. They shapes one’s outlook on various things. They contribute in giving one’s moral foundation, by teaching us many values to improve us as people, to bring us closer to God, and to make us better people in the eyes of God. One value that I find very admirable is determination. It can be seen in history countless times, Lucille Ball, The Beatles, Ulysses S., Michael Jordan, Albert Einstein, Walt Disney, Abraham Lincoln have all led truly interesting lives, especially because of all the hardships and criticism they received. Even in the rough times, they never gave up, they continued what they loved doing with a great passion, pushing them towards excellence. We can learn from their stories by emulating their perseverance. We should never give up; we should look at the bright side no matter what. Whatever problems we face, we should have faith that God will help us and that this is only a part of our life that will pass.
After we go through hardships, we should always be grateful for all the blessings God has given us. God will always be there for us, and we can be sure in saying that we can always depend on Him. Also, we should never mistreat and discriminate others; we are all equal in the eyes of God, and no one has the right to mistreat another, for whatever reason it may be. As a student, I can practice this by continuing the way I treat my maids, with fairness and equality, and since I plan to bring this along with me as I age, It will be a life changing value that will help me be a better person.
If I continue following my morals, values and good traits, I can slowly make my way to be the person God wants all of us to be, and in my own little way, that can be my thanks to Him for all the stupendously amazing and wonderful things he has done for mankind.
