September 26, 2010 Gospel Reading
This gospel was about a man named Lazarus. He was a man who had nothing at all. He has been waiting for scraps from this rich man. The rich man had everything but unfortunately he did not bother to share. Thus the rich man ended up in the Netherlands where he suffered while Lazarus was carried away to the bosom of Abraham.
Nowadays our world can be divided by the rich and the poor. A lot of higher class citizens neglect their duties. They think of their satisfaction first before helping the ones in need. Our social situation increases the gap between the rich and the poor. The fact that it teaches us about generosity is what makes it good. We have to Share our blessings and be thankful for other people doesn’t even have anything.
The rich man probably thought that Lazarus has still a lower rank than him. I doubt that he ever felt sorry for what he has done to Lazarus for he even wanted Lazarus to serve him even when they’re dead.
The brothers of the rich man did not follow what Moses and the prophets said because the rich man wanted them to be saved. They most probably followed the footsteps of their brother, the rich man.
Well the gospel is telling me that as a Lasallian and as part of this community I should serve. I should be thankful that I have such necessities to survive while the others don’t. The bes thing to do is give back to the people. Helping even by just a little way is good enough for the feeling of satisfaction is really good.
If I was Lazarus I will try to do my responsibilities as much as possible. I will look for a job that could provide for my lifestyle. And as the rich man I would be more generous. I would care on the feelings of other people. And help them.
