FORCED OR NOT?

By: Luis Tanjuatco (Senior D)
The gospel this week talks about the faith of the apostles to God. The apostles asked God if He could increase their faith. God replied to them that if they had faith the size of a mustard seed, they would say to a tree that it will be uprooted and planted in the sea and it will obey them.

This gospel tells us that some people are forced to do something because it is their obligation or someone forced them to. A good example of this would be going to church. Some people only go to church because it is an obligation and some of these people don’t pay attention to the mass or are not interested in what the priest is saying. People who are not forced and who are willing to do something and listen to the words of God are the people who have strong faith and belief that they don’t need to be forced to do something.

As a student, I must not be forced to do something but I must be willing instead. A good example would be in school. Because of quizzes and tests, I am sometimes forced to study and learn things that I don’t really like. This should not be my attitude to work and school. I must be willing to study and work hard to do well and get high grades in school. In my spare time, I should have a work attitude. To improve myself, I should study by myself and do things without being forced to.

Everyone should have a strong faith in God in whatever we do. We mustn’t be forced in life to do things. Even some things are our obligation; we must not have the thinking mind that it is forced. Doing things that are forced doesn’t give us the attitude to do things. If we continue to have this way of thinking, we will not be faithful to the things we do, especially with God. All of us should be ready to do things and to have a strong working mind.
