Best Work of Carlo Alejo: Rich Man and Lazarus Gospel Reflection

Gospel Reflection 1 by Raphael Carlo Alejo of Senior A

In my opinion, the Gospel story can be related to our society in such a way that they both speak about the growing gap between the rich and the poor. The rich man represents the greedy people in modern times and Lazarus represents the lower class people of society. What I liked about this story is that it tells us to never lose hope. Even if life may be hard on us, we must always be strong and persevere because God is always there to comfort us and keep us safe. The rich man wanted Lazarus to serve him, because he was regretting that he did not serve Lazarus when they were both still alive. With that, I can say that the rich man was sorry for not feeding Lazarus. I say this, because he told Abraham to have Lazarus go to his house and tell his father and his brothers to be generous. The rich man didn’t want them to suffer like he did. Even if Moses and the prophets’ writings told the rich man’s family what to do, I don’t think his family would follow the writings. It can be related to the people today in a way that it is not easy for the rich people to share what they have because they always want to keep everything for themselves. I believe that one of the challenges that I would have is to be generous. Generous not only in material things, but generous with the knowledge that I have gained throughout my life so far. I must share my gained knowledge with other people so that they, too, would be able satisfy their curiosity about something I would most probably know about. If I were in Lazarus’ shoes, I would have prayed to God, hoping that the rich man would soon change his ways and share his blessings and if I were the rich man, I would have invited Lazarus over to enjoy the food that I have on my table.
