GOSPEL REFLECTION 3

As God’s Servants
In the gospel, after the apostles said to Jesus, “Increase our faith,” Jesus compared faith to the size of a seed. He then asked the disciples who among them would invite their servant to eat with them after working. He said that they wouldn’t do that. Rather, they would tell the servant to make a meal for them and to eat after they have eaten themselves. He then asked them if the master would be grateful for what the servant did. He said that they should be. Jesus said that the apostles should do the same and be the servants.
I think that the gospel focuses on us being stewards of God and of our faith with Him. We are created in God’s image a likeness and He has entrusted us with the world. We have a fellowship with the Lord. While the Lord takes care and guides us, we keep our faith in Him. The gospel mentions us as servants. I think it says that we are made to be of service to God and others. For me, God is our master, we are His servants and we, like in the gospel, must be grateful for what God has given us, the same way He is thankful when we do good. Not only should we try and please God, we must also try to make others happy. We should also be thankful for them and show it through acts of service and kindness. With regards to faith, I think the gospel is trying to show us that we should not settle for complacency with our faith but create a better relationship with God every opportunity we get.
As part of the youth today, we are given many opportunities to create a better and closer relationship with God and with our neighbors. These could be participating in youth orgs, outreaches, immersions, and being an active part of the community. There are also a lot of things we can do that isn’t as large-scale, but can still make a difference in our society, and create a better sense of our purpose here on earth and a better sense of what our mission as Christians is. Things like participating and attending mass every Sunday, praying, and being of help to peers can be a stepping stone to bigger things. In fact, listening and reflecting in the gospel in itself is already one thing we can do. We should always take into consideration the action, and not only the realization. Though realization is important, we should remember that this realization will not be of use if we do not act on it. And that is what God wants us to do.
God wants us to be His humble servants who are happy with what they are called to do. Not only should we witness the opportunities that pass our way, we should take them. We should not only reflect, but act. As the stewards and servants of God, we should commit ourselves to living a good Christian life. Though difficult, God will always be pleased at the fact that we tried our hardest. We should remain faithful, and we should always be grateful. We could not have been anymore blessed with God’s gift of life to us. We should use this gift to its full extent, not forgetting our morality. We are capable of so much, and we should make the best out of these capabilities. Our faith can deepen even more if we allow it to.
