Letter on Pro-RH Bill (by: Ms. Gamboa)

Dear Everyone,

date of special session: it's on March 14, Monday. Fr. Cenzon is surprisingly up-to--date on recent developments  including the experiences of other countries.

Meantime, forwarding copies of existing laws supporting the AAV ordinance. There is a Marcos era law RA 5921 and this was updated during Cory's time with Executive Order 174. Both are in the attachment. In other words, it is illegal to protest the ordinance, not the other way around. Those protesting it are pre-empting the RH Bill which is not even approved yet.

However, Dra Cabral, former Health Sec who  distributed condoms during Valentine's Day last year & Alabang ersident, is mobilizing people power among residents to protest the ordinance. Pls advise all the residents you know on the truth so they will rally to correct those who are not informed. Zobel students must be made aware of this too.

Incidentally, QC passed an ordinance contrary to RA 5921 and therefore, illegal, in authorizing the CIty to purchase contraceptive drugs & devices. There was however no protest against it as very few know it occurred.

Let's keep praying! The debates at Congress are ensuing -- we have to let our reps know where we stand. When the US Congress cut the budget of Planned Parenthood, it was primarily because pro-life taxpayers did not want their money used to finance abortion. PP was found to perform 330,000 abortions a year in its 800 clinics across the USA, even if abortion is legal in all states of the USA. Of course we should not want the same to happen here. And that is not far if the RH Bill is approved.

Those residing near the area of the Batasan can find time to be counted among those who do not want the Bill. Many reps think there are few against it as the pros are dominating the media.

God bless this country!
