Rich Man and Lazarus Gospel
Task Sheet#1 (Due:Oct.1,2010)
Lazarus was very poor.
He had no money.
He had no food.
He was very sick.
There was a rich man who lived in the same town.
He had everything money could buy.
He had a fine home.
He had beautiful clothes.
He had plenty of food.
Lazarus would sit outside the gate of the rich man’s home.
Lazarus was hoping for some scraps of food.
He wanted whatever the rich man was going to throw out.
He waited.
Lazarus was getting weaker.
Lazarus was getting sicker.
Lazarus died.
God sent His angels to carry Lazarus to Heaven.
Lazarus was so happy.
Lazarus was filled with joy.
Not long after Lazarus died, the rich man became sick.
The rich man died.
The rich man was buried.
The rich man didn’t go to heaven.
The rich man went to Hades.
The rich man was suffering in Hades.
He could stand it no longer.
He raised his eyes.
Far away he could see Abraham with Lazarus sitting beside him, in the beautiful kingdom of
Heaven.
The rich man called to Abraham saying, “Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus to me that he may give me water to cool my tongue, for I am tormented in this flame.”
Abraham answered, “Son, remember that in your lifetime you received good things and Lazarus received bad things. Now, Lazarus is comforted and you are tormented. Besides that, there is a great gulf separating us so that those who want to go from here to you cannot, nor can those from there come to us.”
The rich man called again, “Please, I beg you, send Lazarus to my father’s house for I have five brothers, that he may tell them so they wont come to this place of torment.”
Abraham answered, “Moses and the prophets have told them what they should do. Your brothers should listen to them.”
The rich man said, “No, father Abraham, but if one goes to them from the dead, they will believe.”
Abraham replied, “If they do not hear Moses and the prophets, they will not be convinced if some one should rise from the dead.”
