Gospel Reflection #2
Today, we can see an obvious border between the rich and poor. The rich only getting richer and the poor only getting poorer; this is because of the greed that rots people’s minds.
One act of unselfishness can change not only someone else’s life but also your own life. The rich man did not feel the need to help the poor man, Lazarus. And this was his mistake. He should shown mercy to Lazarus. Lazarus would not have not died or even starved if the rich man would share his blessings.
This gospel made me think to myself, to what I should do to make my self a better person and not to follow the rich man’s footsteps. I have all these blessing from God; and like the rich man, I don’t show mercy to the poor people that ask for money in the streets. I should change my ways and try to care more, show more mercy and to love my brothers and sisters.
In the last part of the story, the rich man went to hell and asked Abraham for help to warn his brothers. Abraham answered, “Moses and the prophets have told them what they should do. Your brothers should listen to them.” The rich man said, “No, father Abraham, but if one goes to them from the dead, they will believe.” Abraham replied, “If they do not hear Moses and the prophets, they will not be convinced if some one should rise from the dead.” When I read this part of the gospel, I really wanted to change how I think and what I do. I know if I do not do what this gospel tells us to do, I will probably end up like the rich man; suffering for what he did on earth. I do not want to be like the rich man that would suffer in the end.
