Excellent work of James Lim SR-B
Today, we all live in a world where there is a wide gap between the rich and the poor. God created a world where all men are equal, and camaraderie reigned. Now, it’s just every man for himself. An unjustified quandary that occurs everywhere, is one that deals with the rich getting richer and the poor getting poorer. I’m not saying that we should spoon-feed the poor people, what I’m saying is that we should learn how to enlighten ourselves on the hard knock life culture of these people living in poverty.
As a Lasallian, I live in the comfort of my home, I can eat all the food I want, I get a good education, I practically have everything that a poor man wants. A poor man is not one that literally has no money, but it is someone that is poor in spirit. Like Jesus said, “Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of Heaven”. Someone that lives in agony his whole life, will achieve comfort in Heaven. While those who live just in comfort, without regarding others will experience the opposite of what they had. Today the margin between the rich and poor is something that is almost impossible to belittle. It shows in every way how a rich man differs from someone sleeping on a cardboard box at night. The luxuries that we experience cannot compare to the love that the Lord can give us. As long as we become catalysts of Christ’s greatness, we will be able to achieve this comfort that Lord will give us in Heaven. Like Jesus, we must become an advocate to the belittling of the poor, sick men that scatter on our streets. We must take action on the unjust ways of our government. We must enable ourselves to have a heart that helps, and a heart that is one with God’s.
