Gospel 3
(Lk.17:5-10)
The apostles asked Jesus to increase their faith. Jesus then told them that if their faith was as big as a mustard seed they would tell the mulberry tree to be planted by sea. Jesus then asked them if they would command their servant to eat with him instead of preparing food for the owner. Would the owner be grateful to the servant because he was commanded? The apostles shouldn’t be proud of something they were obliged to do.
The gospel states that we have our own choices. We choose to do what we want to do. Jesus said, “When you have done all you have been commanded, say, “we are unprofitable servants, we have done what we are obliged to do.”” A person cannot increase his faith because of a lecture by his elders. He grows his faith by himself. The first thing he must do is to learn to trust God. This can achieve by learning how to pray to him everyday. Once he gets that, his faith will grow and get stronger. A person can also grow his faith by never giving up. I believe that you have to have faith in yourself before you can have faith in others.
I play a lot of sports. When my I lose a game or when I have a lousy performance in a team sport, I shouldn’t put my head down. I must be positive and keep my head up high. When I put my head down, it shows that I am giving up. I must never give up on anything. I must learn from my mistakes and step up my game. The same goes with my studies. I shouldn’t stop studying because I fail, that has to give me a reason to study harder and show others that I am capable of exceeding their expectations.
When you have faith, you will be able to do things which you never knew you were capable of. Having faith in yourself and God will surely make you achieve greater things in life. You should never give up on your problems. Your problems or failures should serve as stepping stones to develop you as a person.
