Have a Little Faith: Do More Than We’re Asked For

Lk 17:5-10

ATTITUDE OF A SERVANT
Faith is what keeps us believing in Heavenly Father. In this Gospel, the apostles asked the Lord to increase their faith. The Lord responded that if you have faith even the size of a mustard seed, you would say to this tree, “Be uprooted and planted in the sea” Jesus reminds us that even though that our faith is small, as long as it is real, God’s able to do more for us than we could possibly imagine. We had already been given this faith, and all we need to do is to carry it out. Even though we have less faith, we can be productive and achieve things more.
In Luke 17 verses 7-10 which is about the master and the servant, it shows that when we do what we are told to do so, we aren’t implementing our faith at all. If we do more that we are asked for, we are stepping out. In order to step out, we could do acts of service to show our return of God’s unwavering love and support for us.

We are given so many blessings and so many graces from God. It shows that He truly loves us. Though we have a little faith, He is still in our presence and He’ll never let us down. We are the servants who are called to do more. One way of stepping up is to serve other people even though we reach out to those who are in need in the simplest way. As a student, I can say that praying isn’t enough. I must also do my best to share my skills and talents to others as a sign of service.

Reaching out to others is a fulfillment. It doesn’t only give joy to those who are aided but also it brings happiness to each of us. Our faith in God tells us that we must act and strive hard to do things that would lead to prosperity. There are people who have strong faith but don’t contribute to the wellness of the society. For example, a person always prays the rosary and attends mass. Even though we follow the commandments and beatitudes, we are tasked to achieve greater actions.
We must do things for God’s greater glory.
