Faith: The light that keeps on shining in the hearts of Christians
Rhozabel Rivadeneira
Gospel: Lk.17:5-10
October 3, 2010
In this gospel, the servants asked the Lord to increase their faith. Jesus said if your faith has a size of a mustard seed. He asked wouldn’t you rather tell your servant to prepare your supper and wait on you, and after he may eat his meal. Would the master feel grateful for the servant for following his orders? It’s the same for the apostles who listen to Him when they are done with their job say “We are useless servants we have done no more than our duty.”
In relation to the gospel, our faith in God and in ourselves keeps us away from the temptations of quitting half-way through of what you are doing. There’s always that light of hope for everyone in pain or, simply, people who are having hardships in life. Watching the video I thought of the things that are happening to our country or the world. Wherein people keep trying everything they can to help themselves and their family, have the confidence and the faith to carry on to reach their goals.
Watching the video, I learned to never give up on myself, to be intimidated with the big challenges in life, or to quit when I’m so close to finishing something important to me. Looking back at what I had promised myself to finish but never did, I felt very disappointed. Not only did I quit because I it got too difficult for me to handle, but I made an excuse of getting tired of what I used to love to do. My friend told me that 50 percent of what a person does is by faith in God and in yourself, the rest just comes from your determination or support from others, and I learned my lesson. If I had the determination of doing something I wanted to do in the first place, all I needed was to have faith in myself, the people I love, and, most of all-God, who is always watching over all His beloved children.
Never say never is what this gospel told me. Appreciate the little things in life because simple is always best. Don’t be discouraged by how the big the obstacle in your life is. When you succeed, lift everything to God, with your deepest and sincere gratitude, because He’s the one who made everything possible for you to get through the difficulties in life.
The Lord is my master, and He made me into who I am today. I will always serve Him for it is our duty and our honor.
