Why Was Mohandas Gandhi Killed?
By: Cloyd Uyson
One of my most favorite Asian heroes was Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi was one of the most famous personalities of the entire Indian race. His being a champion of democracy through his non-violence movement created a great impact which definitely changed the course of the history of India. It is interesting to note that prior to his fateful assassination, Gandhi was able to tell the world that any form of corruption and bad governance from other colonizers can be counter attacked by non-violence.
The Indian people were very much fond of this man named Gandhi because of the fact that he proved to the world that Indians as a nation and as a race can actually fight the foreign colonizers. It is one of the best feats that Gandhi did not only to the people of India but also as a sign of hope to the world. This courage and determination of Gandhi brought the British colonizers to be mad at him which eventually lead to his assassination.
The British government was so furious about the non-violent action of Gandhi which in the first place caught the attention of the whole world. The bad image which caused by Gandhi’s non-violence to the British government made the government officials to do something which brought Gandhi’s death. There were all in all five critical attempts in view of Gandhi’s assassination which made him felt like he was a real or hard core criminal. Those supporters of Gandhi tried their best to protect him from the British people who were on the go of aiming to kill Gandhi. Unfortunately, their efforts to save the life of Gandhi were fruitless because on the 6th attempt, Gandhi was finally murdered close ranged and point black.
Finally, it is an essential information that Gandhi’s death did not after all go to waste because it brought a revolution out of the tired and sick Indian people against the British government.
