To Approve or Not to Approve
Overpopulation is one of the major problems that Philippines is facing right now. Not only our country is experiencing this problem but also the whole world is challenged to solve this global problem.
The government and the Catholic Church are having conflicts right now. Their problem is whether to pursue the Reproductive Health Bill or not. The Catholic Church doesn’t want this bill because it promotes the use of contraceptives which leads to abortion while the government states that the reproductive health bill will give benefits to each family.
As for me, though I am a Catholic, I support the stand of the government. The Reproductive Health Bill will somehow give advantages to Filipino citizens. We can see that overpopulation also leads to poverty. People are suffering due to unemployment and hunger. There are many consequences overpopulation shaped. With the citizens having the knowledge in family planning and birth control, the problems we are facing might lessen.
With or without the Reproductive Health Bill, God has given us a choice whether we will do immoral acts that is why we have freedom. The Reproductive Health Bill is only a guide to us, citizens. It doesn’t control our way of living.
