Praise And Worship: A Special Dimension in Man’s Life

Praise And Worship: A Special Dimension in Man’s Life
By: Cloyd Uyson
The famous St. Augustine once remarked: “If you sing well, you prays and worship twice.” Obviously, this is one of the most remarkable and wise quotes about life. It cannot be denied that human as we are and being created in the image and likeness of the Almighty God, we have a sense of divinity and goodness deep within us. We crave for something that will somehow fill the emptiness that we feel inside our hearts. Our lives seem incomplete, lacking in something which can only be sustained and satisfied by God Himself. Every time we implore, ask and pray to God, we cannot simply forget that once in our lifetime He made us to be like him in everything. This reality needs a sense of gratitude from each of us. The life and love that God is continually giving us must be more than enough reason for us to sing with praise and worship to the Lord of Lords.
Praise and worship is our way of supplication to the Lord. We praise and glorify Him as our own little deed of showing gratitude for all the graces which He continuously shower to our lives. It is one way of saying also to come to our aid in times of trials and calamities. Indeed the power of praise and worship is so strong that the doors of heaven will be opened wide for God to send us all of the necessary blessings for us.
Every time we praise and worship God, we commune with Him in a way that is beyond words. We bring to God all our good deeds and not so good deeds alike. We talk to Him like He is one of our loved ones. We tell him all our heart’s desires, our concerns, our joys and problems in so many creative ways. Among others, we worship and praise God through music and songs, dances and movements, cries and acting or role plays.
Human as we are, this dimension of praising and worshiping God is something that is engraved in our souls and hearts. We cannot but go to God for all our needs and pains, happiness and worries. God indeed is Someone we look forward to every time we open our souls and lift up our minds to the divine. God is a God who actually need not be praised or worshipped because of His perfect nature and being, yet we as people need to do it so that our lives will have sense and meaning in view of its existence.
