My Teacher, My Hero

MY TEACHER, MY HERO…
By: Cloyd Uyson
It always amazes me every time I recall the heroic deeds of our educators. In spite of the meager salary, they stick to the job not because of any monetary reasons but because of their love for the craft and their dedication to their pupils and students. Being a teacher is truly both a challenge and a self-sacrifice, and my heart and commendations go with those who survive and choose to stay in this so-called vocation of forming minds and molding characters.
I have this aunt from my father side who happened to become a teacher most of her life. Her name is Lilia Gasgas Raynera she just retired this year and is growing old graciously. From her sweat and tireless love for teaching, she was able to send all of her children to school and finish a good education. As a teacher, my aunt wakes up very early in the morning to prepare for the family’s breakfast, then head to school for her day’s teaching loads and other responsibilities. She seemingly gets not tired in spite and despite of the many pressures and stress that she encounters in class.
For me, my aunt is my hero because of the love that she offered for both her real and reel children. She did all her best to inspire them in all the aspects of life. From providing them with all the basics of life such as food on the table, shelter, clothing and all the other essentials needed by the body. My aunt gave all her best for all the children under her care in view of their social, emotional, spiritual and moral development. In short, my aunt did her best to be the best teacher and mother that she can be. This then is the reason why I consider her as my hero.
