Rich Man and Lazarus Gospel
Nothing in this word is permanent so when the time comes, everything will be sent back to God. Knowing this, we should realize that the life we have now isn’t permanent. The lives we have now are only being borrowed by us from God so we should use it in a way so that God will be pleased of us. In the gospel, Lazarus suffered during his lifetime because of this when he died he ended up being comforted in heaven. The rich man on the other hand received a bounty of good things when he was alive and he didn’t share his blessings so he ended up suffering in hell. We see here that the lives given to us by God are given for the purpose of serving God. Being compassionate to the needy is another thing that we can draw from the gospel. If only the rich man had shared his blessings with Lazarus he would have been spared of his very heavy burden. One thing to remember is that when we give to the needy we give out of compassion and not because we are obliged to do so, because if we give them for the sake of giving them there will be no true sense of compassion in the act. This gospel also teaches us that humility is a key role when living our lives, because with humility we can both be simple with the live that God has given us and we can also have the feeling of need for those who are needy.
